A good strategy in the game of Craps is made up of an intelligent handling of the playing money, a good amount of the most advantageous bets, and an attitude that is rather relaxed towards the game.
If you can handle these elements well, you will have a great advantage of 95% on other players. Now we will take a look to each one of these components. An intelligent handling of the playing money is indispensable for a good strategy in Craps, since if you do not handle your money well, you will not be able to see if your strategy is really working.
The good handling of your money is obtained in several ways. One of the best options (although it is also the most difficult) consists of establishing a strict limit to your losses and to respect them. In many occasions, a player can have a good reserve of money to play Craps.
Nevertheless, if the game begins badly, these reserves can disappear quickly and the player will have the temptation to increase the amount that he has to play.
It is equally difficult to fix a gain limit with which we sufficiently feel contented to retire. After all, why retire if you are winning? Try to fix a limit to your losses long before you begin to play, and at least have a limit in your mind during the game. There is another way with which you can better handle your money. Begin to play with a reserve of money previously established, which will also have to be your limit for losses.
Let us say for example that this limit is $100. If you lose your money quickly, you should then respect the limit of losses and you withdraw.
If on the contrary you begin to win, do the following thing: Play until you have $75-$100 over initial reserve, and then you take your $100 from reserve and keep this in your pocket. As of this moment, you play solely with your gains. If you happen to lose your gains, you will still have your initial reserve; but if you happen to accumulate additional profit, you return to apply this strategy and you secure another $100. No longer should you consider these as part of your money to play.
The experts consider that a strategy that is based on playing solely with the gains simply cannot fail.
The second component that requires a good strategy to play Craps consists of understanding perfectly the most intelligent bets of the game. Perhaps you think that this is the most difficult part, but in fact, it is so simple how some bets keep the advantage of the House at a minimum. Read our page of Rules to play Craps to know each one of the bets that can be done and its probabilities.
Generally it is advisable for bets to the “Pass”, that you endorse this bet with a bet to “Come” and another one to the six or the eight. Learning to diversify your bets to diminish your risk can benefit you, but the strategies for the game are not limited to this. Generally, the diversification of bets diminishes significantly the unpredictability of the game, but at the same time it limits your potential to win.
But thinking of it another way, if you bet to diminish the risk, you will not have sudden losses that can end your reserves. Nevertheless, if you are winning, you will finish with less money than someone who had won by not diversifying their bets. The final component for a good strategy, and perhaps the most important, consists of maintaining a relaxed attitude towards the game.
To maintain calm is essential in any game, and Craps are not the exception. A good player of Craps understands the unpredictability of the game and is well prepared with a good reserve of money to play. If things are not going well at the game table, you fall into the frustration that resorts you to bet more in order to recover your losses. This almost never works. It is better to stay with your strategy and have in mind that the initial reserves will diminish before you return to raise.
If you begin to make more bets than you can handle, the game can return to become a very confusing one. You are better to maintain a relatively simple game until you dominate each one of the bets.
